IP Speaker Series - Professor Jorge L. Contreras

Join us as we welcome Professor Jorge L. Contreras as the first speaker for the first GW IP Speaker of Spring 2022. He will be giving a virtual presentation of "In the Public Interest - University Technology Transfer and the Nine Points Document – An Empirical Assessment.” His paper is an empirical study of the effects of the Nine Points document, which outlined considerations for university technology transfer in 2007, on actual university licensing practices over the past fourteen years. Professor Contreras is Presidential Scholar and Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and Director of its Program on Intellectual Law & Policy.

He is the author of numerous scholarly publications in the area of IP, and his latest book The Genome Defense: Inside the Epic Legal Battle to Determine Who Owns Your DNA is available for sale on Amazon.
