Join the Criminal Law Society, the ACLU at GW Law, and the Pro Bono and Public Interest Committee as they host Jonathan Rapping, JD '95.

Jonathan Rapping is a nationally renowned criminal justice innovator, 2014 MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Fellow, Founder of Gideon's Promise, and a George Washington University Law School alumnus. In 2007, Mr. Rapping founded Gideon’s Promise and began an initiative to change the public defense landscape to rise up and fight against the injustice within our justice system. In his quest to train and equip public defenders with the resources necessary to ensure all citizens receive their Constitutional right of “equal justice for all,” Rapping and his organization have become symbols of a new civil rights movement. Professor Rapping will provide a lecture on the current crisis of indigent defense and the transformative power of public defenders in protecting the Sixth Amendment right to counsel.

Reception to follow.
