Marcu Florea is a PhD student at the Security, Technology and e-Privacy (STeP) research group of the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen (the Netherlands). His research focuses on consent for processing personal data for biomedical research and is part of KnowGraphs, an International Training Network funded by the EU Research Framework Program Horizon 2020, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Marcu holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Arts in Politics Philosophy and Economics from the University of Bucharest (Romania) as well as an LLM in International and Comparative Private Law (cum laude) from the University of Groningen. A member of the Bucharest Bar Association since 2015, he worked as an associate lawyer for Filip & Company law firm and as a privacy and security legal counsel for Oracle Corporation. Starting from September 2023, Marcu joined the George Washington University Law School as a Fulbright visiting student researcher.
