Mohamed ElBaih is a visiting scholar at the George Washington University Law School – GW Center for Law and Technology with a diverse background in law, technology, and music. He earned his LLM from the George Washington University Law School, specializing in Privacy, Cybersecurity, and National Security Laws. Mohamed is also preparing to sit for the New York bar.

With over 7 years of legal experience, he has developed a strong passion for global AI, Privacy, and Cyber regulations that impact the development of artificial intelligence.

Mohamed began his legal career in 2019 at Egypt’s Attorney General Office till 2023 as a Senior Public Prosecutor, handling cybercrime investigations and prosecuting over 200 cases involving various criminal offenses. In recognition of his contributions to cybercrime investigations and prosecution, Mohamed was honored by the Egyptian Attorney General in 2021.

Recognizing the need for legal professionals with a deep understanding of technology and its intersection with Privacy and National Security, he pursued an LLM degree with selective coursework in Technology Foundations for Cybersecurity, Global Privacy Laws & Conflicts, Cybersecurity Laws and Policy, Artificial Intelligence Laws and Policy, Blockchain Laws and Policy, National Security Law, and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). His thesis, "The Role of Privacy Regulations in AI Development," explored the impact of CCPA/CPRA and GDPR on AI development through discussions with Meta's DPO and AI offices.

After completing his LLM, Mohamed served as an AI, Privacy, and Cybersecurity Policy Fellow at the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI). In this role, he monitored legislative, regulatory, and policy developments in the United States, Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific pertaining to Artificial Intelligence, Privacy, and Cybersecurity. Currently, Mohamed works as a Consultant in the Data Privacy Office, Business Risk and Compliance at The World Bank Group - International Finance Corporation (IFC). He advises business teams regarding general compliance with the World Bank and IFC's privacy policies and procedures, contributes to privacy and confidential data training and knowledge management, and assists in developing, reviewing, and updating privacy policies and procedures.

Mohamed also has a big passion for music. As a unique performer combining the flute, harmonica, and beatboxing, he became a semi-finalist on Arabs Got Talent, with videos garnering over 8 million views. Mohamed toured the Middle East and the US, collaborating with top brands such as Coca-Cola and Red-bull for TV ads and concerts. He also delivered three TEDx Talks and earned a scholarship to an electronic music production program at Los Angeles City College.

With his diverse background, and passion for emerging technologies, Mohamed is poised to make significant contributions to the development of laws and policies in the fields of AI Privacy, and cybersecurity.
