Mr. Lewis is a director and head of the Investigations team within Google’s Regulatory Affairs department. As leader of the company’s high-risk investigations and data incidents team, he oversees lawyers and auditors who investigate business ethics, financial integrity, data security incidents, and other types of conduct that could pose legal and regulatory risk for the company. Mr. Lewis and his team also develop and implement best practices for conducting internal investigations across Google and Alphabet.

During an earlier four-plus year span at Google from 2018-2023, Mr. Lewis worked on company matters at the forefront of novel issues affecting today’s tech companies, such as content moderation and data security and privacy. And he served key roles in helping prepare executives for congressional testimony and helped the company navigate government investigations.

Before re-joining Google in 2024, Mr. Lewis was the founder and managing member of the Lewis Law Firm PLLC and a frequent CBS News legal contributor. He also previously served as a McGuireWoods LLP partner in its Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Department, where he defended individual and corporate clients in white collar criminal and regulatory matters.
